Don't ever accept Room #1 under any circumstances because it is adjacent to "The Game Room", plus there is 1.5 inch gap under the room door that allows both light and noise into the room. Also, if you are over 200 lbs. and six feet tall, you will barely fit in the bathroom and the bed's mattress is atrociously hard like sleeping on a sheet of plywood, both my wife and I rolled all night trying to get comfortable. The breakfast was nice, but French toast where I come from is served like slabs of Texas toast, not three tiny pieces of bread. We visited here seven years ago and were very pleased, not so this time under new ownership.
My husband and I stayed for the first time. The staff was wonderful, the food was amazing and we loved our room. We will definitely be returning!
For those who want to meet new people in a cozy, welcoming enviromnent, this is the place for you. At the same time for those who are just looking for a private room to call their own while on the go, this is also for you.
Cozy bed, particularly good breakfast. my expectations were met
The breakfast was outstandingly well made and delicious, eaten by a fireplace whilst sitting on dark stained wood furniture. Fantastic.

Having now experienced The Nutmeg I can say that I will definitely be staying there again my next time in Wilmington.
This was my first stay at an inn. Prior to this trip I had been a bit cautious of inns. I’m a pretty introverted person especially when traveling by myself so I had my reservations about the social environment I would get myself into.
The staff was more than helpful and very kind.
Stay was short but hospitality will keep me coming back if in the area. Delicious cookies and even better breakfast......
