Short hike with a great view. For a three thousand footer, it was pretty easy, and a hike for all ages. Well maintained trail. Nice section of the Green Mountain National Forest. Nice scenic drive there.

Beautiful hike starting at the top of upper Dam Road in the Chimney Hills development of Wilmington. Parking for a handful of cars on the right side the road next to trailhead there's a large sign. After walking past the gate a few minutes you'll make a left on to the Deerfield Ridge Trail and in 30 minutes or so you'll be looking for a marked spur trail on the right to the summit of Mount Haystack. Eastern exposure on this view but the pond is obscured by trees. For the Goodview return back to the Deerfield ridge bearing right continue north down trail for 15 minutes or so, you'll notice some water protection area signs. Shortly after these signs is where the trail comes very close to the ski slopes of the Hermitage and you'll notice a short spur leading you out to the slopes where you'll then head upslope a short distance to the south side of the summit lodge. You'll find another spur Trail there with a sign that says Haystack Pond.
